Sony Erricsson Rogers Rocket stick problem

Post by mrpenguin » 02 Jun 2010, 01:42

I am running ubuntu 10.04 ....... I used to run Ubuntu 9.04 and had no problems connecting my Rogers rocket stick in the following way
sudo usb_modeswitch -v 0x0fce -p 0xd103 -O 1

sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf

[Dialer rogers-nopin]

Phone = *99#

Username = wapuser1

Password = wap

Modem = /dev/ttyACM0

Baud = 460800

Init1 = AT+CPIN?

Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0

Init3 = ATX3

Init4 = AT+CFUN=6

ISDN = 0

Modem Type = USB Modem

Init5 =AT +CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet.com","",0,0;

Auto DNS

Check DNS

sudo usb_modeswitch -v 0fce -p d103 -O

sudo wvdial rogers-nopin
After I updated to 10.04 i can not flip my rogers stick anymore ... I get the following error
jaques@jaques-laptop:~$ sudo usb_modeswitch -v 0x0fce -p 0xd103 -O 1

You probably have a version which has a bug in the Sony routine. It was fixed in 1.1.1 and I recommend to just use the latest which is 1.1.2.

Run "usb_modeswitch -e" to see the version.

There is a package of 1.1.2 for Ubuntu available at Lauchpad:
link. Get the "Built File" with the name "usb-modeswitch_1.1.2-3_i386.deb".

Important: install the data package first: direct link

With versions above 1.0.3 you wouldn't have to run anything manual if your device is known and supported; but I see that your modem is not in the list yet. Can you tell me your target ID (USB ID after switching) once you manage to make it work?

Anyway, I will file a bug about this at Ubuntu; they should install the newer version as an update.

One more thing: can you post a "lsusb -v -d 0fce:d103" once you got the device switched?

Thanks so much ... I got it working ... I had 0.1.12 and after I updated to 1.1.12 it worked

here is what you asked for, no idea what any of this means
