Yes it will have the same effect as your manual modeswitch cmd but you don't want it as cdc_ether with mfgr proprietary cmds (usually via a built in web server at the dongles ip address) you want cdc_mbim with a standardised command set. cdc_ether mode is Windows7/XP fallback mode, cdc_mbim is Win8...
