Re: E3131 modeswitching options for multiple device modes

Actually I expected to learn that there is a "preferred", "more modern" modeswitch target (rndis "HiLink") that usb_modeswitch opts for when called with -J and at least the old modeswitch target of "ppp modem" . For instance is it common consent that 555342431...

E3131 modeswitching options for multiple device modes

As I might have bricked my old E3131, I've got me a new one yesterday. New stick, new behaviour! Apparently this is the HiLink version, although on the PCB it, too, reads 3131h-2. I sampled all modswitch lines I could find on the net and tried them out. tested: VedorId is of course 12d1 Huawei, Devi...

Re: Switch model E3131 to HiLink

A very good thought! Having opened the stick, is there any hardware reset to get it back to firmware defaults, when one apparently has disable CDROM emulation and/or the USB ports are unresponsive? Inside on the sticker atop the shielded section there is written 10762 E3131h-2 BS PCB etching reads C...

Re: Switch model E3131 to HiLink

I know, thx. But that bricked E3131 has a very weird boot up scheme: ( green blink-blink, pause ) repeated 3 times, ~8 seconds pause , the whole thing repeated ~6 times. Only then it shows up via lsusb as 12d1:1c05 , it never took the device over a minute to show up on lsusb! The three resuting ttyU...

Re: Switch model E3131 to HiLink

I had a feeling you have tampered around with AT^SETPORT ... Except for the life of me I've no idea howthat might have happened, I was in the process of porting my pppd dialup system to the new release of some gadgets firmware, I was quite happy with the E3131's config and had no need to tamper wit...

Re: Confirm E3131 modeswitch to CDC mode?

derstand why there was reference to 12d1 1c05 so I decided it is related to some other revision of E3131 now as @LOM suggested I tried AT command and used AT^U2DIAG=0 now my E3131 is always in 12d1 1c05 mode I'm relieved to hear that there is at least on E3131 out there, that has a productId of 0x1...

Re: Switch model E3131 to HiLink

This is what Windows creates for the mystery E173s:
Windows Devices for E173s zombie
Windows Devices for E173s zombie

Looks like the real 3G modem tty is missing of the typical 3 ttys the E3131 had.

Which one to use to switch the product back to E3131,
or at least to reenable the 3G Modem tty device?

Re: Switch model E3131 to HiLink

The very same E3131 stick now features a different "unswitched" id (forgot witch, stick in in the office) and can be switched to 0x1c05 The initial id does not change unless you have tampered with the stick or flashed another firmware on it. Scary fact for sure. I certainly didn't flash a...

suggestion for "direct" eth UMTS dongle for kernel 3.4.11

Can anyone point me to a UMTS usb dongle á al E3131 (size, weight), that produces an ethX network device after modeswitching when only a linux kernel 3.4.11 is available ? I'd like to get along w/o pppd dialup using /dev/ttyUSB0, something that will pop up a "network card" under kernel 3.4...

recognizing a "switched" device id

Is there a mechanism to recognize a switched usb device by purely regarding its device id?
(besides looking it up on the net  )

Re: Switch model E3131 to HiLink

Hi guys, I'm definitely lacking some info. I've got a E3131 running on an arm-linux drone. I've got the modeswitch line to have it become 0x1506 . Then one can load the option.ko module which creates three usb serial port, where /dev/tyyUSB0 can be used by pppd to create an internet connection. unti...

Re: E3131(T-Mobile) switched from 12d1:15ca -> 12d1:1506,dev

You can not switch the device further, 12d1:1506 is a usb id for a device after it has switched. One of the drivers you'll have to load is named option, it is a serial port driver. The device does also have a direct ethernet interface which will be driven by one of: qmi_wwan cdc_ncm cdc_ether I nee...
