Hello again!

Had it working for more than six months and suddenly after updating the Ubuntu 9.04 it stopped working.

I no longer see any /dev/ttyACM0 or /dev/ttyACM1.

After trying to get it working under 9.04 I decided to upgrade to Ubuntu 9.10 and also installed the latest (1.1.2) version of USB_Modeswitch.

What I see from the logfile is:

Code: Select all

Hmm, switching went fine obviously. Have you got the "cdc_acm" module ? And what does "dmesg" say after switching ?

I didn't have the cdc_acm so I added 'cdc-acm' to /etc/modules. After that I tried manually to switch the MD400 with:

Code: Select all

./usb_modeswitch -O -W -v 0x0fce -p 0xd0e1
And here is what is in /var/log/syslog:

Sad to say that I still have trouble connecting.

Found out I missed the usbserial module also and I added that to /etc/modules.

After that I tried manually to switch the MD400 with:

When trying to configure NetworkManager it only see ttyACM0. When I had it working it was using ttyACM1.

I have also tried with wvdial with no success.

However, it looks like USB_Modeswitch does what it is supposed to do.

Any suggestions?

This NetworkManager is causing a lot of trouble with all that probing of ports and whatnot. I'd rather recommend to use wvdial or UMTSmon.

I myself use pppd directly with an old fashioned chat script for dialing ...

I'm trying to get my MD400 working (Telenor, Norway), and running into problems when I try using usb_modeswitch.

I've install version 1.1.0 (C) on Ubuntu netbook remix 10.4.

TRying to run it I get segmentation faults.

Output from running with the -W switch:

Code: Select all

lance@luthien:~$ sudo usb_modeswitch -W -v 0x0fce -p 0xd0e1 -O 1
Taking all parameters from the command line

Version 1.1.0 has a bug in the Sony mode which is fixed since 1.1.1. Use the 1.1.2 packages as indicated in this topic

If you want, add your voice to the bug report at Ubuntu; the problem has been known for quite a while now:
