E8372 modem without wifi

Post by woj39 » 05 Oct 2023, 16:27

Hi, I recently bought this modem hoping that it will have WLAN "Disable" box
like E8372h-153 for example, but it doesn't have it.
I wonder if it is possible to disable wifi completely as I want to use it as USB only modem
for my laptop (without additional electromagnetic pollution) ?
I'm hoping that usb_modeswitch command might be able to do it ??

Thanks for any help with this

After running usb_modeswitch, the USB modem should be recognized as a modem, and a new device (likely /dev/ttyUSB0 or similar) should appear.

Once the modem is recognized as a modem device, you can configure PFsense to use it for failover. Make sure to check PFsense settings for the WAN and failover configurations to ensure it uses the USB modem when needed.

Remember that the exact commands and steps can vary based on the specific model of the USB modem and the version of PFsense you are using. Always refer to the documentation for your modem and PFsense for accurate and up-to-date information. If you encounter issues, it may be helpful to consult PFsense forums or support for assistance tailored to your specific setup. Slope Game
