Post by Nextage1 » 05 Dec 2007, 01:05

I tried with your system but it doesn't work, don't know why.

This is what I get from dmesg command , I don't know if it will be readable, now I am on WInzoz , my modem works only with it now.
The os is ubuntu 7.10

O.K. As a first step, the output of "lsusb" would help. The vendor and product ID are important.
I looked the modem up in Google and found a hint about these IDs. According to that they are identical to those of the ZTE modems (0x19d2/0x2000). This "re-branding" often happens, communication providers rename the devices and the original maker is cloaked.

If you get the same values from "lsusb", load the latest version of the "usb_modeswitch.conf" (see web page).
There are two ZTE models with the same IDs so you have to try both methods. With luck, one of them will work. If not, you can still do the sniffing in Windoze. Others were able to work it out too, see the other posts. Plus, you'll become a pioneer ...

Having followed my first trace I found this image of a ZTE MF620:

I suggest you try the config for this modem first ...

I confirm that the config for ZTE MF620 found in usb_modeswitch.conf works for the ONDA MH600HS, which seems a clone/rebrand of it.

I have been able to see the switching, with Kubuntu 7.10 and the last .conf file with ZTE MF620 parameters.
And now ? I am not able to find any new device like someone wrote
/dev/ttyUSB0 or /dev/ttyUSB1/ dev /dev/ttyUSB2
Where or how can I find out the device ?
How could I tell to KPPP which is the the device to use ?
