"No modem found" problem for my grameenphone 3g modem

Post by mahfuz ahmed » 19 Sep 2017, 19:45

My modem made by zte corporation for grameenphone ltd.
MODEL-MF1931
It's an hsupa supported modem.
And I tried to use it on my "symphony i50" device. Which is marshmallow 6.0 os based.
And ppp widget 3 shows no modem found.
So I need help from ppp widget authority ..।

The first step is to enable logging in the PPP Widget configuration (last option at the bottom).

Then insert the modem, and after a moment touch the PPP Widget icon on the left of the widget. Open the configuration again and touch the button "USB Log" which should be active now. Post the displayed log in your reply here (text please, not a screenshot).

Start manual search for USB devices

Found possible modem device 19d2:0154
Device not in initial mode; API bus search may detect it
No known modem found in install mode
Start search for USB devices

Hmm, that log is an indication that your phone tries to use the modem itself.

"Device not in initial mode":
-> It is "mode-switched" by the phone, not by PPP Widget

"No known 3G USB device found"
-> It is hidden from Android, PPP Widget cannot access it

Check if you can use the modem in the "official" Android way, setting it up in the Android configuration (look for "Mobile" entry below WifFi and Bluetooth).
If you can't find anything about a mobile connection there, check your phone's manual. If there is nothing in there about USB modems, contact the Symphony support and ask for specifics.

The specifications of your phone are including this:

"USB Modem - Yes"

https://www.symphony-mobile.com/product ... php?id=257
(see "Specifications" / "Connectivity")

This is something the manufacturer has added. It is not part of normal Android.
If there is nothing about modem support in your manual, you have to ask the Symphony support.

PPP Widget cannot use the modem if it is 'hidden' from Android. Maybe the Symphony support can tell you how to disable the feature so that normal apps can access USB modems attached to the phone.

I contacted Symphony support.
And I asked if there any way to use external modem for the i50 device.
The told that they know nothing about it. And they also told there ware no such function for use Modem on this phone.
[But I need to use modem on it badly.please do something for the poblem]

Again: I can't do anything if the modem is not available to the Android system. They clearly have tampered around with the Android code, otherwise PPP Widget would at least find the modem as a USB device.

Why do they write "USB Modem - yes, USB Storage - yes" in their specifications ??? They don't know their own products ???

PPP Widget cannot use the modem if it is 'hidden' from AndroidFireboy and Watergirl
