Yota 4g (s15; 1286:812a): device connects to the pc but as CD-ROM

Post by yota_nubuser » 12 Oct 2023, 22:43

Hello fellow users! That's my first post here.

I got a problem with my current Yota 4g Modem. Previously it worked through RNDIS/CDC-ECM, but recently my distribution dumped such behaviour and fully embraced usb_modeswitch. After that I could not setup my modem to work by any means. I tried manual switching through `std_eject` flag, by simply ejecting CD-ROM, through patching 40-usb_modeswithc_rules, etc. I also tried manual switch through switching to the previously added Yota modem (https://draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/ ... ota#p16341), but could not get the -M flag content right. So it didn't work.
Therefore I came here as a final resort to get help.

The 'device' data before switch was like this:

T: Bus=03 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=05 Cnt=01 Dev#= 9 Spd=480 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 2.00 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=ff Prot=ff MxPS=64 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=1286 ProdID=812a Rev= 0.00
S: Manufacturer=YOTA
S: Product=Yota Modem
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=c0 MxPwr= 10mA
I:* If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=ff Prot=ff Driver=(none)
E: Ad=81(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 512 Ivl=0ms
E: Ad=02(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 512 Ivl=0ms

And after switch (automatic and before CD, partially correct as it worked with RNDIS):

T: Bus=03 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=05 Cnt=01 Dev#= 11 Spd=480 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 2.00 Cls=ef(misc ) Sub=02 Prot=01 MxPS=64 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=1376 ProdID=4e61 Rev= 1.00
S: Manufacturer=Marvell
S: Product=Mobile Composite Device Bus
S: SerialNumber=Mobile Composite Device Bus
C:* #Ifs= 2 Cfg#= 1 Atr=c0 MxPwr=500mA
A: FirstIf#= 0 IfCount= 2 Cls=ef(misc ) Sub=04 Prot=01
I:* If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=e0(wlcon) Sub=01 Prot=03 Driver=(none)
E: Ad=8c(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 16 Ivl=4096ms
I:* If#= 1 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=0a(data ) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=(none)
E: Ad=8e(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 512 Ivl=0ms

Please, help me return to the internet on the road.

Best regards,
yota_nubuser.
